Sexy Vampires with Emotional Stories Coming Your Way: Nocturnal Surrender Series Updates

Things are moving along quicker than I had expected with the next book in the series – so far. Let’s hope this keeps up.

NS 4 for blogFirst, an update on the upcoming novel, Night Therapy.

I finished the revisions three weeks earlier than I had planned, and I was able to get it to the editor two weeks earlier than originally scheduled.

I believe that is a first for me. Normally, I run over my estimated time. Yay me!

I’m waiting to hear back from the editor to see how soon she thinks she’ll be done with the first round of edits, but I don’t think she’ll have it longer than two to four weeks. Again, that’s quicker than my initial expectations. Yay editor!

I’ll spend July – and August if needed – finishing the editing process, so I’m still expecting an early September release.

If you want to read a few unedited excerpts from Night Therapy, you’ll find themHERE.

If you want to get to know the hero, Johnathan McCombs, you’ll find his hero postHERE.

If you want more information about this book – or the others in this series, as well as purchase links, excerpts, and series extras – you’ll find it all HERE.

And for those of you who have read the previous books – and have fallen for Bastian – don’t worry. He has a major role in this book, and will continue to throughout the entire series.

?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????Second, I have started work on the fifth book in the series. This novel is still untitled. I hope to have the first draft finished by October for release sometime early next year.

As always, I will give updates on the progress as I write. When I get further into the novel, I’ll begin posting some teaser excerpts, as well.

The hero in this novel is Johnathan’s sire, Alexander Mitchell. He’s a calm and calculating vampire, smooth and charming. Everything he does is sensual, right down to how he drinks blood.

The heroine, Olivia Fournier, was introduced early on in the series, in Nocturnal Surrender. She’s cold and aloof, domineering and independent. And after what happens in Night Therapy, she has a huge chip on her shoulder and a lot to prove.

Their personalities clash. Their approaches to immortal life and how to run the Enforcer teams are completely opposite. Sparks will be flying – in more ways than one.

Plus, the war between vampires and Hunters will begin to intensify. All your favorite vampires from the series will be in jeopardy.

That’s all for now, but I will continue to update you on my progress. Until next time, enjoy the previous books in the series, the excerpts, and the extras at the links above.

So what have you been reading lately? I just finished reading Lover Enshrined by J.R. Ward, and now I’m reading Dark Curse by Christine Feehan.

Midnight Confessions: Excerpt 1

TNSS: Book 3

TNSS: Book 3

Nicole intentionally showed up at Bastian’s house unannounced and it had paid off. She licked her lips when he opened the door. He must have just finished showering and not had enough time to dress properly—or to dry off completely.

It was her lucky night.

Most of the time he preferred to meet her at the sanguinarian nightclub, Nocturnal Surrender, and therefore had those damn vampiric contacts and fangs in. There had only been a handful of times in the few months they’d dated when she had seen him without them. But tonight, although his mesmerizing sapphire gaze drew her in, the lack of vampire prosthetics took a backseat to something else.

His body-builder frame filled the doorway, covered only by low-riding jogging shorts that deliciously clung to his hips. The defined cuts of his abdomen drew her gaze to the patch of hair teasing at the edge of the material. Lower, the perfectly outlined bulge begged to be touched. Somehow she wrenched her attention away from what hid beneath his shorts and examined him further.

His broad chest glistened, his muscles flexed, his golden hair was slung wet and sexy against his stubble-covered face, and he held a damp towel. “Nicole!” His eyes grew wide. “Why didn’t you tell me you were coming? I’d have—”

She held her fingers to his lips as she stepped forward, giving him no choice but to back up. After making her way inside, she closed the door behind her. “Oh no. If I’d have warned you, you would’ve wanted to meet at your brother’s club even though it’s your night off. I barely ever get to see you outside of that place.” To see the real Bastian. “And besides, I definitely like how you look when I catch you by surprise.”

A flash of heat spread through her as her eyes roamed over him once more. She ran her hands along his warm arms then slid them inward to caress his hard pecs. The woodsy scent of his cologne filled her nostrils. She wanted to bury her head in his chest and breathe him in. To have him wrap his arms around her and hold her so tight there would be no space between them. To feel him hard against her.

As if in response, he dropped the towel, grunted, and pinned her to the door before she could blink. His long body pressed into her exactly how she’d wanted. He grabbed her arms and raised them over her head, holding them together with one hand. The longing in his eyes—the fire—burned her to the core.

With his free hand, he feathered his fingers down the sensitive flesh on the underside of her arm. The touch so soft it almost tickled. When his hand came to rest at her side, right at her breast, he slipped his thumb between their bodies and played with her nipple.

Her heart sped. A deep breath helped calm her momentarily until she caught another whiff of his spicy scent. He touched her chin softly, tilted her head upward, and brushed his full lips over hers. Slipping his hand behind her head, he fisted her hair and pushed his hard shaft against her belly.

He groaned, only it wasn’t his normal pleasured sound. More like he was in pain. He pulled away even faster than he’d closed in.

Nicole dropped her arms, let out the breath she hadn’t realized she’d been holding, and panted for a few seconds. Bastian bolted out of the foyer and into the living room before she steadied herself enough to walk.

By the time she entered the room, he stood at the brick fireplace with his back to her, one arm outstretched, hand on the mantle. He leaned on it, breathing heavy. She stopped, unsure if she should give him a minute or go to him and see if he needed help.

“Bastian, are you okay?” Her voice cracked from concern.

He cleared his throat and held up his hand as if to tell her to stay back. “Just give me a minute. I’ll be fine.”

The rasp in his voice made her heart sink. He didn’t sound fine at all. Both his hands were planted on the mantel now. He coughed a few times.

She ran to his side and rubbed his back. “What is it? What’s wrong?”

After a few deep breaths, he lowered his arms and stood up straight. “Nothing. Give me a little space, will you?” He strode away without turning to her.

She followed as he retrieved the towel, but when he ignored her and charged up the stairs, she looked around dumbfounded. He’d never been short with her like that. She clenched her fists and gritted her teeth, fighting back tears.

What did I do wrong?

Not wanting to be the pushy girlfriend, she gave him the space he’d asked for and waited in the living room.

Her single visit to his house before this had lasted only five minutes. They had come back from Nocturnal Surrender, and he had stopped at home to remove his contacts and fangs before they went dancing. He hadn’t taken the time to show her around because they were having such a good time and wanted to get on with their date.

A quick glance around the room didn’t offer much new information about her lover. There were no pictures, no decorations or knickknacks—not that she thought someone like Bastian would have those. The only sign of the man who lived there was an empty beer bottle on the dark coffee table.

She hadn’t noticed the first time, but the theme of the entire room was dark. Brown leather couch and chairs, mocha walls, wood floor. Even the curtains looked more like they were meant to keep the sun out rather than make the place homey.

The room almost gave her the creeps. She sat on the edge of the couch, bouncing her leg. Maybe it’s because he hasn’t lived here long enough to spruce up the place.

That had to be it.

Still, she needed to get out of the living room. Nearly fifteen minutes had gone by and Bastian hadn’t come back down. She went out to the hall and called for him but got no response. In fact, she hadn’t heard any sounds at all since he’d ran up there.

Could something have happened to him? What if he needed help?

She bit her lip and paced, contemplating if she should invade his privacy and go find out.

What the hell am I doing? He could be lying up there having a heart attack or something. Sure it was unlikely for someone so young and healthy, but what if?

She took a deep breath and let it out with a sigh then headed upstairs to take care of her man.

“The chemistry between Bastian and Nicole is off the charts HAWT! WOW!! The world building is interesting and the plot is very intriguing. I love the author’s writing style and the editing was spot on. If you are a fan of Erotic PNR, you are going to love this series. It’s kind of like Laura Wright meets Lora Leigh with a pinch of JR Ward thrown in the mix.” Danie – Amazon Kindle reviewer about Nocturnal Surrender.

“I am digging this Novella series by Lorraine Pearl. I finished Nocturnal Surrender & immediately purchase the next book in the series, Midnight Confessions. Great back story, character & story development. Oh, and let’s not skip over the hot and I mean incredibily hot sex between Bastian & Nicole that makes you weak in the knees & tingly all over.” Sharon – Amazon Kindle reviewer about Nocturnal Surrender.

Midnight Confessions & Auburn Lust Released

This month I released a new novelette and a short story, both are part of my Nocturnal Surrender Series.

MIDNIGHT CONFESSIONS:

TNSS: Book 3

TNSS: Book 3

Nicole French is fed up with only seeing her boyfriend, Bastian, at the sanguinarian club Nocturnal Surrender, where he always wears his prosthetic fangs and vampire contacts. When she pays him a surprise visit, and he answers the door half-naked and wet from showering, she can’t help taking advantage of the situation. But when her sexual advances send him bolting from her, she is stunned and concerned.

Bastian Evanko isn’t ready to reveal his secret to Nicole, to tell her he truly is a vampire. But when she gets him too aroused to hide the monster inside, he decides to confess all. Unfortunately, before he can explain things properly, his brother Donovan calls, demanding his presence to handle vampire business. Nicole is suddenly along for the ride, and Bastian gives her a crash course in all things vampiric. Will she be able to handle being thrown into a strange new world? Or will she betray him as his fiancée did two hundred years ago?

As if that isn’t enough to deal with, Donovan confronts Bastian about the recklessness of bringing Nicole into their world too soon and more confessions are made. First between the brothers, and later between Bastian and Nicole. All hide deep pain and guilt, and they all need to confess their secrets to find peace of mind. But will they be able to salvage their relationships or will their confessions tear them apart?

Approximately 16,525 words.

AUBURN LUST:

TNSS: Short Story

TNSS: Short Story

Twin courtesan vampires Rochelle and Laureline Montague entertain two of their favorite vampire clients for the evening: Christof Rosenbaum and Donovan Evanko.

Rochelle and Christof have been meeting for centuries but lately the intimacy between them has crossed the line and become personal. Will Rochelle be able to keep her professional boundaries in place or will she give in to her emotions?

Laureline and Donovan’s rendezvous is much less emotional and far rougher, but that’s how they like it. Although, she can’t let Donovan leave after just one time around—even when he is summoned by his Enforcer boss.

In the end, both men are consumed by the auburn-haired beauties in one way or another, and there is no doubt both will be back for more.

Approximately 6,991 words.

Updates: Book Covers, Upcoming Releases, New Sales Venues

These two books have had their covers updated. I knew I would be updating Nocturnal Bites to add the list of stories in the anthology, but I hadn’t planned on doing a new cover for Midnight Confessions. But since I decided to publish trade paperbacks of the first three novelettes/novellas, the original cover I’d done for MC was not high enough quality for printing, only for eBook. I loved that original cover, but had no choice if I wanted to have this book in print. So here you can see the new cover. It is still beautiful, though.

????????????????????????????????????????

TNSS: Short Story

Also, I’ve added a new short story to the mix, Auburn Lust. This is an erotic book–not a romance–that will be available individually and as part of the anthology, Nocutrnal Bites.

All three of these books will be released soon. Midnight Confessions’ tentative release will be 2/8/13, but may be as late as 2/14/13. Either way it will be out in time for Valentine’s Day. If you are signed up to follow this blog, you’ll know the day it is out because I will do a new post for the release–and I will for each future release, too.

I hope to have Auburn Lust ready for release by the end of February, which means Nocturnal Bites will be out at that time, as well.

Lastly, there are a few new sales venues for Nothing Lasts Forever, and those venues will eventually be added for all the books. Just head on over to The Nocturnal Surrender Series website for the links–and to see the information for Auburn Lust.

So how do you like the new covers?

Today I’m over at Kathryn Blake’s blog talking about what inspired me to become an author and giving a little peak into my latest release, Nocturnal Surrender. Come on over and tell us what inspires you. Nothing Lasts Forever & Nocturnal Surrender in Print

That’s right, the first two books in The Nocturnal Surrender Series are available in trade paperback. For now, you can buy your copies at the Createspace store, but they will soon be available on Amazon, too. Remember, these are a novelette and novella so they are slim books, but it will be so nice to have the books in your hands. Click on the covers for the Createspace buy links.

The Stigma of Erotica and Erotic Romance

I guess we have another hurdle to get over as authors. First we had to deal with the stigma of writing romance and how it was considered less than other genres. Then we had to deal with the stigma of self-publishing—for those of us who have gone that route. Now we have a new stigma to deal with: writing erotica or erotic romance and having it shunned because people think it’s nothing more than written pornography.

I know we still have the first two stigmas, but I think they have been getting better lately. And I believe they will keep getting better. With the third, who knows, maybe the whole 50 Shades explosion will help lift erotic romance and erotica up out of the gutter some would like to shove them in.

To me, comparing erotica—with plots just like any other story—and erotic romance to pornography is like comparing a wonderful sex scene in a movie to a porno. Pornography is fine—I like pornography. It has its place and time. Although, I would like to see more geared toward women, but I think our day is coming.

But erotica and erotic romance is far from pornography. Pornography usually doesn’t have a well-thought-out plot and is—as expected—completely about the sex act. Good erotica does have that plot and the sex is there to help enhance the plot. It is the same for erotic romance. None of those stories are merely about sex.

I wouldn’t want to push anything erotic on someone who didn’t want it, but when I try looking for places to post my free book or to get reviews and they tell me, “Sorry, no erotica,” it kind of pisses me off. They’ll take anything else, any other genre, but oh my, if there’s an explicit sex scene or two the world must be coming to an end.

Those same places that refuse erotica or erotic romance have no problem hosting horror with all kinds of killing and violence. It’s just like media in general. We can show all the violence imaginable, but the minute sex is involved the censors come out screaming. Blow someone’s brains out, but you better not give them a blow job first. (I also love horror and don’t want an end to that genre; I’m just trying to make a point.)

Ooh, speaking of BJs, did anyone watch CNN’s New Year’s Eve show? I loved it when Kathy Griffin kept threatening to give Anderson Cooper a blow job. Now that was some good TV.

Okay, I could rant about this forever, but I’d like to know what you guys think about the subject. Please leave a comment and weigh in.

I say it’s time we shout loudly from the top of a mountain, “I write erotic romance (and/or erotica) and I am not ashamed. My books should be right there beside all the others.”
