Sexy Vampires with Emotional Stories Coming Your Way: Nocturnal Surrender Series Updates

Things are moving along quicker than I had expected with the next book in the series – so far. Let’s hope this keeps up.

NS 4 for blogFirst, an update on the upcoming novel, Night Therapy.

I finished the revisions three weeks earlier than I had planned, and I was able to get it to the editor two weeks earlier than originally scheduled.

I believe that is a first for me. Normally, I run over my estimated time. Yay me!

I’m waiting to hear back from the editor to see how soon she thinks she’ll be done with the first round of edits, but I don’t think she’ll have it longer than two to four weeks. Again, that’s quicker than my initial expectations. Yay editor!

I’ll spend July – and August if needed – finishing the editing process, so I’m still expecting an early September release.

If you want to read a few unedited excerpts from Night Therapy, you’ll find themHERE.

If you want to get to know the hero, Johnathan McCombs, you’ll find his hero postHERE.

If you want more information about this book – or the others in this series, as well as purchase links, excerpts, and series extras – you’ll find it all HERE.

And for those of you who have read the previous books – and have fallen for Bastian – don’t worry. He has a major role in this book, and will continue to throughout the entire series.

?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????Second, I have started work on the fifth book in the series. This novel is still untitled. I hope to have the first draft finished by October for release sometime early next year.

As always, I will give updates on the progress as I write. When I get further into the novel, I’ll begin posting some teaser excerpts, as well.

The hero in this novel is Johnathan’s sire, Alexander Mitchell. He’s a calm and calculating vampire, smooth and charming. Everything he does is sensual, right down to how he drinks blood.

The heroine, Olivia Fournier, was introduced early on in the series, in Nocturnal Surrender. She’s cold and aloof, domineering and independent. And after what happens in Night Therapy, she has a huge chip on her shoulder and a lot to prove.

Their personalities clash. Their approaches to immortal life and how to run the Enforcer teams are completely opposite. Sparks will be flying – in more ways than one.

Plus, the war between vampires and Hunters will begin to intensify. All your favorite vampires from the series will be in jeopardy.

That’s all for now, but I will continue to update you on my progress. Until next time, enjoy the previous books in the series, the excerpts, and the extras at the links above.

So what have you been reading lately? I just finished reading Lover Enshrined by J.R. Ward, and now I’m reading Dark Curse by Christine Feehan.

Another Night Therapy Teaser Excerpt

Ready for another teaser excerpt from my upcoming novel, Night Therapy? Keep in mind this is still unedited. This little scene between Johnathan and Stephanie takes place after a hot, intimate moment–that you’ll have to wait for the book to read. 😉 Come on. I can’t give away all the good parts.

TNSS: Book 4

TNSS: Book 4

“I…I can’t believe I let this happen.” Lowering her gaze, she shook her head. “It’s wrong.”

He stroked her cheek with his thumb. “In case you didn’t notice, I was the one who started this. I never expected it to go as far as it did, but I’m not sorry. It’s been decades since I let anyone in. I needed this.”

“That’s the problem. You let me in as your therapist. It makes you feel closer to me than you are. That’s why we aren’t allowed to get involved with clients. What you’re feeling…it isn’t what you think it is.”

“And just exactly what do I think it is?”

“I don’t know. A connection. Trust in someone. Being open and vulnerable. And yes, those are probably all there, but not for the reasons that should have led to what we just did. They’re there because you’re supposed to feel safe and supported with me. That’s my job. But it’s not a personal connection. It’s not—”

A fiery kiss burned her lips, and she let out a soft moan into his mouth.

Then he pulled away fast. “No, it’s not personal at all. I suppose you react like that with all your clients.”

Smug asshole. “Stop it. We can’t keep doing this. I—”

Another kiss. He pulled her to him tightly; his strong arms wrapped around her like a security blanket. Warmth and comfort spread through her as if she belonged in those arms. She melted into him, into the desperation of his embrace. The hunger of his kiss.

Night Therapy Update, and a Post by the Hero, Johnathan McCombs

TNSS: Book 4

TNSS: Book 4

I finally finished the first draft of Night Therapy today. It only took me a week longer than I’d planned, but it did end up about 8,000 words over my expected count so that explains the extra week. Not a big deal. It’s hard to say what the word count will be after revisions, anyway.

My tentative schedule is to work on revisions and have the first beta reads done over the next 4 to 6 weeks, and then I’ll send it off to the editor. Add another 4 to 6 weeks for edits after that. This leaves the month of August for the last beta reads and a final polish. I’m shooting for a release date in early September.

So, to hold you over while awaiting the release, I have a few things planned. First, in case you missed it over at Heartthrob Haven, below is Johnathan’s hero post. I also have an interview with Johnathan that I’ll post at some point, as well as a follow up to that interview. As I do revisions, I’ll post a few more teaser excerpts. And I’ll also be running a giveaway here and there over the next few months.

Now I’m turning this blog over to Johnathan. I’ll warn you, he has an attitude a mile long and likes to use a lot of cuss words. Take it away, Johnathan…

Look, before I even get started, I think you all should know I’m not really a people person. My author, Lorraine Pearl, asked me to come here and do this fu— Uh, I mean, she asked me to come do this hero post. Huh, as if I qualify. Did I mention I’m here against my better judgment? And she had the nerve to make me promise to tone my attitude down. Well fu—

Okay. Sorry. I guess she might have a point. Anyway, my name is Johnathan McCombs. Lorraine said I should tell you a little something about myself, so here goes.

I’m a vampire. Have been for over six hundred years. I’m a loner; happy when it’s just me and my motorcycle. Unfortunately, a few years back I let my sire, Alex, talk me into joining his Enforcer Team to go after rogues who break our laws. Keep it in the family or some shit like that was what he told me.

Sorry again. Like I said, I’m not good at this social thing. Hope you don’t mind the language.

No. That’s a lie. I really don’t give two shits.

Man, Lorraine laughs when I say that since vampires don’t need to use the bathroom.

Now where was I? Oh, yeah. Telling you about myself. Well, I guess I could sum it up by saying I’m effed up. No, really. The shit that happened before and after I was turned did a number on my head—and apparently on my personality, too.

Alex has been on my ass to talk about it all these years, but it wasn’t until recently that I found the balls to do it.

So now I have this sexy psychotherapist, Stephanie Taylor, who I’ve got the hots for. I’m sure she’d never admit it, but she’s into me, too.

And don’t go getting all pissy like Lorraine does. I’m a vampire. Of course I’m going to use my powers to feel people out. Can I help it if Stephanie’s lust for me is palpable at times? Okay, I actually can turn off my abilities, but when I catch her stealing glances below the belt, how am I supposed to resist?

In any case, none of that matters. She’s human, I’m not. And she’s my therapist—you know, some crazy shit about keeping professional boundaries and it being unethical for her to get involved with a client. Not that she’s said this out loud, but she’s thought it.

Yes, I read her mind. So sue me.

I wouldn’t want anything serious with her, though. Not really my style. But Lorraine has this crazy idea that if I go in there and pour out my soul to Stephanie then we’ll magically fall in love.

Huh. Like I’d ever fall in love.

But I see through all this romance crap. For starters, the chances of me opening up that much are slim to none. Not to mention the fact I know exactly how these romance novels work. Lorraine will put me and Stephanie through all sorts of hell before we can earn our happily ever after.

No. Lorraine is crazy if she thinks any of that will happen. And that’s not even accounting for Stephanie’s resistance to something like that. She’s a good woman and would never compromise her ethical beliefs.

Even if there was a way to break down her walls, there would still be things standing in our way. My issues, her issues—although I am intrigued to find out what pain she’s hiding—and that tiny problem of me being immortal and her mortal.

But the biggest issue would be the fact vampires have just been put on the endangered species list. Not because our numbers have dwindled, but because the Hunters have apparently come up with a plan to take us all out for good. Problem is we can’t get the details on their plan so we can attempt to stop them.

It really sucks—and yeah, I know that was a bad pun. But seriously, just when I decide to start getting my shit together it looks like my life might be cut short. I guess that’s about how it always goes, doesn’t it?

Before I leave, I wanted to tell you a little more about Stephanie. She’s been my therapist for a few months now, and she is the most compassionate woman I’ve ever met. I haven’t hit her with my secret yet, but I plan to tell her I’m a vampire in our next session. I know she’ll be shocked, but I also know I can trust her.

I’ve felt it in her. And I’ve listened to her thoughts a few times to be certain. Don’t get pissy about it like Lorraine does. Vampires have to do these things before we can bring someone into our world. That’s just how it works.

My point is she won’t judge me for my past. She’ll help me deal with it. I’m sure the extent of all I’ve done will put her empathy to the test, but I have no doubt she’ll come through for me. Even though she has deep pain and loneliness inside her—similar to what’s inside me—she’s strong. I can tell she’s survived some type of trauma but can’t quite reach into her mind far enough to find out exactly what.

She’s beautiful outside and in. If things were different, I would love to ease her pain and treat her like a queen. I’d do whatever I could to be her therapy, too. I’d make her forget her past. But something tells me my wonderful personality would fu— Sorry. You get the picture.

Maybe there’s a part of me that hopes Lorraine’s scheme to get us together will work, but I still can’t imagine it will.

There’s a lot more to me and my story, but like I said, I’m not really a people person, and my skin is crawling as I sit here telling you all this. So if you don’t mind, I want to go hop on my V Star and get the hell out of here. You can read the rest of my story when my book, Night Therapy, comes out in a few months.

Oh, there’s one more thing I promised Lorraine I’d tell you. If you want to read about that idiot, Bastian Evanko, you can grab the first books in the series. Even though I have no use for Bastian, I can sort of feel for him because of all the shit he’s gone through.

I only hope Lorraine doesn’t torture me anywhere near as much as she did him.

I’d say thanks for having me here, but it certainly was not my pleasure. Apparently the torture has already begun.

Night Therapy

Vampire Johnathan McCombs has spent the last century isolating from humanity whenever possible, trying to come to terms with a past that haunts him. When he finally realizes he needs help dealing with his issues, he seeks out a mortal psychologist, hoping her ethical boundaries of confidentiality will allow him to reveal his secrets. He tries to ignore his growing attraction for his therapist, but when circumstances throw them together outside the professional setting of her office, will he be able to contain his passion?

Psychologist Stephanie Taylor connects with her clients because personal experience has made her understand what heartache and trauma do to a person. But when her hot new client drops the bomb on her that he is a vampire, she has no idea what to do or how to react. Now she must look at her life in a whole new light. She has inadvertently put her life in danger and become part of a dark world she thought was only pretend.

In one night, everything changes. Old rivals pull Stephanie into their fight, and Johnathan must make a life or death decision. But can Stephanie forgive him for the irreversible choice he makes with her life? Can the couple find peace with their individual problems to have a chance at a lasting relationship? And how will the brewing war between vampires and Hunters affect them?

So what did you think of Johnathan? Even though he doesn’t seem too happy to have done this post, I’m willing to force him to answer your questions if you’d like to leave any with your comments.

If you’d like information and purchase links for the first books in the series, head over to The Nocturnal Surrender Series website.

Praise for the series…

“The chemistry between Bastian and Nicole is off the charts HAWT! WOW!! The world building is interesting and the plot is very intriguing. I love the author’s writing style and the editing was spot on. If you are a fan of Erotic PNR, you are going to love this series. It’s kind of like Laura Wright meets Lora Leigh with a pinch of JR Ward thrown in the mix.” Danie – Amazon Kindle reviewer.

“I am digging this Novella series by Lorraine Pearl. I finished Nocturnal Surrender & immediately purchase the next book in the series, Midnight Confessions. Great back story, character & story development. Oh, and let’s not skip over the hot and I mean incredibly hot sex between Bastian & Nicole that makes you weak in the knees & tingly all over.” Sharon – Amazon Kindle reviewer.

Heartthrob Haven Hero Post by Vampire Johnathan McCombs

TNSS: Book 4

TNSS: Book 4

That’s right. The time has finally come for my newest hero, Johnathan, to speak his mind. This isn’t an interview but a post straight from the vampire himself. Damn, that guy has an attitude.

If you want to learn more about Johnathan and the upcoming novel he is in, Night Therapy, head over to Heartthrob Haven to see what he has to say.

In case you’d like to see a few more pics of this hunk of a vampire, I’ve added some below. This is model Francis J Cura. I snatched up a good many pics of him through dreamstime.com. You’ve probably seen him on a lot of covers, but I knew he was my Johnathan the second I saw him.

WIP Erotic Excerpt Teaser #2: Night Therapy

I’m very close to finishing the first draft of Night Therapy. I’ve already hit my goal of 60,000 words, but I have at least 2 or 3 more chapters left to write. When I wrote this scene, I couldn’t resist sharing. Keep in mind this is still a rough draft and is unedited.

Content Warning 2 smaller

WARNING: THIS IS AN ADULT EXCERPT AND IS NOT INTENDED FOR ANYONE UNDER 18.

Was Stephanie ready to feed fresh without killing? Johnathan couldn’t call his sire and ask what to do with Alex talking to the Elders at the moment. Besides, it was time he fucking manned up and stopped crawling to Alex every time something difficult happened.

“I’ll wait for my offspring to finish freshening up before I feed. Please, have a seat in the meantime.” He gestured to chairs in front of the fireplace at the foot of the bed.

Apparently the two spoke English well enough to understand him because they smiled and did as he suggested.

He should probably give Stephanie a heads up so she didn’t walk out in just a towel…or less. Wishful thinking, but just in case he knocked on the door and entered the bathroom before she answered then closed the door behind him.

“Hey, Steph. Uh, I thought you should know our meals arrived. Alive.”

The shower door opened a bit, and Stephanie’s shampoo-covered head popped out. “Alive? As in they have to stay that way?”

“Yep. Ready for a crash course in how to feed fresh without killing?” Johnathan tried to act nonchalant, as if he believed she could handle this.

She wiped soap away from her eyes. “Do you think I’m ready?”

I hope you are. “Of course. Look at all you’ve done so far. Most newly-turned vamps can’t do half of what you can.”

“Oh, okay then. I trust your judgment. I’ll be out in a few minutes.” She closed the shower door abruptly, and he took the cue to get the hell out of there.

While he waited, he stared out the tinted, oversized window at the wide expanse of manicured grounds behind the manor. Having small talk with the food didn’t seem appropriate. It was easier to keep his back to them and not think about what might happen if Stephanie was unable to stop herself before one of them died.

When the bathroom door opened, he breathed deep and steeled himself to teach his offspring. But when he turned to face her, she took his unneeded breath away.

Her tight black pants and low-cut shirt made his cock tingle. The way her damp hair framed her beautiful face, accentuating her amber eyes and full, pink lips had his equally-unnecessary heartbeat thundering.

She glanced to the pair in front of the fireplace then her gaze landed squarely on him. When she licked her lips, ending by sucking in her lower one, and her eyes roamed his body, it was all he could do not to kick their food out of the room and throw her on the bed to ravish her.

He cleared his throat even as his fangs extended and his eyes shifted. “We should, uh…feed so they can get back to their rooms.”

Stephanie looked back to the mortals, her eyes turning silver with a different kind of hunger than when she had stared at him. He crossed the room before she could act on any urges she might have had. As he stepped in front of her, her mouth opened, her fangs prominently displayed.

He clasped her shoulders and whispered too low for anyone but her to hear. “You must calm your impulses. Use what Alex taught you. They belong to the Elders so you have to be gentle.”

After a few tense moments, she focused on Johnathan, the single-minded haze of the hunt gone from her silvery stare. She smiled and caressed his cheek. “I’m ready.”

He cradled her hand and guided her to their waiting meals. Part of him wanted to see them as people, but he had to suppress it. The Elders were old-school vamps and their world was entirely different than life in Lansford.

Plus, he had to teach Stephanie properly. “I will feed first.” He hoped she understood the implied, so you can see how it’s done.

The last thing he wanted was to watch a mortal male get off on her feeding from him, so Johnathan motioned for the man to stand. Johnathan knew how these willing-donor situations worked. The humans truly enjoyed being meals for immortals.

Not gonna happen with my woman.

Shit, he was being his same old controlling, asshole self.

He’d work more on that later. Thankfully, the timing wasn’t appropriate for his personality issues to take precedence.

Facing Stephanie so she would be able to see exactly what he did–and so he could maintain eye contact with her–he placed his hand behind the man’s neck and pulled him to his lips. As he sank his fangs into his meal’s flesh, something shifted inside Johnathan. He locked gazes with Stephanie, and for the first time in his immortal life, he didn’t feel as if he were stumbling aimlessly through his existence.

He didn’t feel lost and alone.

Warm, tangy blood filled his mouth as he sucked then it glided down his throat. The man moaned in his arms, arousal shooting off the mortal in waves. Apparently he was used to being fed on by male vampires. Johnathan opted not to listen to his thoughts, though.

If he wasn’t mistaken, Johnathan could have sworn a feeling of peace enveloped him for a few seconds–like the reverie his sire always spoke of.

Stephanie inched closer, her eyes still clear of the bloodlust. She watched intently, licking her lips occasionally. Her hand slithered along Johnathan’s arm and upward into his hair. She closed the space between them until her lips touched his cheek in a soft kiss. Then she shut her eyes as if to focus on another of her senses, most likely listening to the male’s heartbeat.

Another moan emanated from the man when Johnathan sucked in again. The ticking heart in the human’s chest slowed ever so slightly and dizziness radiated from him. Johnathan swallowed one last time then pulled his fangs out completely, sucking at the lingering blood on the man’s skin. With a slow lick, he sealed the two puncture wounds, and then helped the male back to his seat. A look of pure bliss softened the mortal’s masculine features.

The moment Johnathan turned back to Stephanie, she threaded her fingers in his hair again and tugged him to her. Her kiss was passionate, erotic, and his cock reacted, growing hard immediately.

If all the chaos and past issues were put to rest, they could have an amazing life together.

She backed away too quickly. “I’m hungry.”

The husky sexiness in her voice didn’t help with the problem in his jeans. He kept his back to their meals but motioned for the woman to stand.

Hell, he hadn’t thought it through this far. If the woman became as aroused as the man had, the sight of Stephanie taking her neck would drive him over the edge.

As he offered the female to Stephanie, he reminded her to be gentle, his voice raspy.

When she winked at him and slipped her arm around the woman’s waist, he knew he was in for it. Stephanie used her free hand to brush her meal’s long dark hair aside to expose her slender neck.

Johnathan’s cock ached.

Stephanie’s lips parted and she leaned into the woman’s throat but kept her eyes fixed on his. She sank her fangs in, and as she sucked, she pulled the woman tighter, holding the small of her back and grasping her hair. The woman moaned and writhed in Stephanie’s arms.

Johnathan scrubbed a hand over his face. Damn, she’s trying to kill me.

Was it getting hot in there? Was the oxygen being sucked out of the room?

Granted, he didn’t need it to survive, but at that moment, it felt like he’d suffocate from his inability to breathe.

He swallowed the lump in his throat and moved closer just as she had done.

Two could play at this game.

He fisted Stephanie’s hair and licked a trail along her throat. If she were more experienced and he didn’t have to worry she might drink her meal to death, he’d have bitten into her instead of just kissing where he had licked.

This time, Stephanie moaned, and Johnathan fought the urge to rip the woman out of her arms. He stifled a groan then did his best to refocus his attention on the mortal’s heartbeat and feelings.

A few seconds later, it was time for Stephanie to stop, but before he could tell her, she released the female. Stephanie’s tongue darted out and dragged a slow line along the woman’s throat, eliciting another moan as her wounds healed.

Johnathan let go of Stephanie and clenched his fist, biting back his desire.

Stephanie helped the woman sit then looked to Johnathan and licked her lips–slowly. “How did I do?”

A strangled noise escaped him, as did the ability to form coherent words. She laughed and sauntered to the bed. After she sat, she ran her hand suggestively up and down the corner post.

He pressed his lips together, his fangs digging in the bottom one, trying like hell to reign in his libido.

My New Motorcycle, Named for my Vampire, Bastian

I traded in my 2006 V Star for this brand new V Star 1300 Tourer right before Easter. I had to wait these last few weeks for the accessories I ordered to come in. Now here HE is, all decked out with his new parts: fancier handgrips, crash bar, passenger floorboards, and extra lights in front. There’s still a lot I want to add to him, but this will do for now.

And yes, he is named after the vampire, Bastian, in the first book I ever published, Nothing Lasts Forever. Although he is named for Bastian, he is actually the motorcycle the hero, Johnathan, in my upcoming novel, Night Therapy, rides. But don’t tell Johnathan because he hates Bastian–for a very good reason. 😉

3 1 2So what do you think of him? And yes, this is a him. My husband told me since he’s mine, he can be a him.

For more information on the books that inspired his name, and for purchase links, check out my Nocturnal Surrender Series website.

WIP Erotic Excerpt Teaser: Night Therapy

TNSS: Book 4

TNSS: Book 4

I had planned on waiting to start posting teasers from Night Therapy since I won’t have it ready for release until late summer, but when I wrote this scene, I couldn’t resist. Keep in mind this is still a rough draft and is unedited.

In this scene, Johnathan and Stephanie are preparing to make love for the first time, but they each have such strong personalities that they clash at times. I must admit that I’m falling for these characters even more with each chapter I write. If you liked Bastian and Nicole, then you’ll love Johnathan and Stephanie, too.

But don’t worry, Bastian and Nicole are still around in Night Therapy–and the entire series.

WARNING: THIS IS AN ADULT EXCERPT AND IS NOT INTENDED FOR ANYONE UNDER 18.

Content Warning 2 smaller

Still pinning her arms over her head, he slipped his free hand down until he teased the sensitive skin just above the waistline of her pants. After easing inside the material, he walked his fingers slowly along her swollen flesh, dipping one then two inside her slightly. She arched into his touch, but he stopped his maddening motion in response.

“No. You had your chance. Now I’m going to make you pay.” He pulled his hand from her pants and licked his fingers then plunged them back inside the fabric and palmed her entire pussy. “Mine,” was all he growled before his fingers shot inside her.

He was so damn sexy when that other side of him took over. Dominating, but somehow still vulnerable and sweet. It made no sense that he could be such a dichotomy, but then again, she was now, too.

Apparently he wasn’t happy with her mind wondering off again because he hissed her name and thrust his fingers in and out with a speed she had never imagined possible. With a vampire like Johnathan, she’d never need batteries again. His fingers vibrated in her core and coherent thoughts fled.

She might have cried out, moaned, or something, but as her eyelids fluttered open and closed, she couldn’t comprehend anything except the electric sensations shooting through her body.

His thumb massaged her clit relentlessly, pulsating at times. Just as the muscles in her core clamped down, he stopped abruptly and removed his hand to lick his fingers once more.

Short pants leapt from her mouth. She was right on the verge of orgasm…and he’d left her there writhing in need.

Cruel bastard.
